Frequently Asked Questions

Waxing FAQ

Welcome to our Waxing FAQ! Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about waxing and hair removal to help you prepare for your appointment. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact us—we’re here to help!

Important: These answers are for general guidance and are not a substitute for medical advice. If you’re taking medications mentioned below, consult your physician before waxing.

Professional Conduct: We provide professional services in a safe, respectful environment. Any inappropriate behavior will result in termination of the service, full payment will be required, and authorities may be contacted.

Before Your Appointment

How long should my hair be for waxing?

For best results, hair should be ¼-inch to ½-inch long (about the length of a grain of rice). Coarse hair may need to be closer to ½-inch for the first few sessions. If your hair is too long, you may want to shave the area and book your appointment for 2–3 weeks later. Avoid shaving between waxing sessions, as it disrupts the hair growth cycle and may require up to three treatments for smooth results.

How often should I get waxed?

Every 4 weeks is ideal. Regular waxing reduces skin sensitivity and weakens hair follicles over time, leading to finer, sparser hair growth. Consistent appointments also minimize discomfort and improve results.

How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?

To ensure a successful session:

  • Ensure proper hair length: See the question above.
  • Clean skin: Arrive with clean, dry skin. Avoid showering or bathing immediately before, as wet hair can break during waxing.
  • Avoid certain products/medications: Refrain from using topical exfoliants (e.g., Retin-A, hydroquinone), oral acne medications (e.g., Accutane), blood thinners, or cortisone for at least a week before waxing, as they increase skin sensitivity. Consult your doctor if unsure.
  • Special events: If waxing for a wedding or event, schedule a test session 4 weeks prior to check your skin’s reaction, then book a follow-up a few days before the event. For best results, we recommend getting 3-4 waxing sessions in before your event.

Can I shave between waxing appointments?

No, shaving disrupts the hair growth cycle, leading to coarser regrowth and less effective waxing. Stick to waxing every 4 weeks for best results.

Is there an age limit for waxing?

We wax clients of all ages! For those under 18, a parent must accompany you to sign a consent form. Brazilian waxes require clients to be 18 or older.

During Your Appointment

What is a Brazilian wax?

A Brazilian wax removes all pubic hair (front and back) using wax. You may choose to leave a small strip or shape if desired.

After Your Appointment

What should I expect after my first waxing?

You’ll enjoy smooth, hairless skin! Temporary redness or minor irritation may occur for 1–2 days. Some clients experience slight itchiness as hair regrows. Proper aftercare (see below) minimizes these effects.

Will I get ingrown hairs?
Ingrown hairs are possible but preventable. Waxing removes hair from the root, and skin may thicken over the waxed area. To reduce the risk:

  • Exfoliate gently: Starting 2 days after waxing, use a mild scrub or exfoliating glove 1–2 times weekly.
  • Wear loose clothing: Avoid tight clothing for 48 hours to reduce irritation and moisture buildup.
  • Limit bacteria: Avoid heavy exercise, sweating, sexual contact or chafing for 24–48 hours, especially in high-perspiration areas like the bikini line or underarms.

How can I prevent ingrown hairs?

For 24–48 hours post-wax, avoid:

  • Exfoliating products (e.g., AHAs, loofahs)
  • Direct sun exposure or tanning beds
  • Fragranced creams or irritating ingredients
  • Deodorant (for underarm waxing)
  • Tight clothing
  • Excessive heat (e.g., hot tubs, saunas)
  • Exercise that causes sweating or chafing
  • Sexual contact

After 48 hours, exfoliate regularly with a gentle shower gel and loofah. Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen to waxed areas to protect sensitive skin.

How does waxing benefit me?

Waxing offers long-lasting smoothness compared to shaving. When done every 4 weeks, it:

  • Reduces hair growth over time
  • Produces finer, softer regrowth
  • Eliminates stubble, as hair is removed from the root
  • Saves time for those tired of frequent shaving

Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker or darker?

No! Waxing removes hair from the root, resulting in finer, sparser regrowth. Unlike shaving, which cuts hair at its thickest point, waxing doesn’t cause stubble or stimulate new follicles. Only hormones (natural or artificial) can increase hair growth.
