Before your appointment

How long should my hair be for waxing?

For best results, hair should be ¼-inch to ½-inch long (about the length of a grain of rice). Coarse hair may need to be closer to ½-inch for the first few sessions. If your hair is too long, you may want to shave the area and book your appointment for 2–3 weeks later. Avoid shaving between waxing sessions, as it disrupts the hair growth cycle and may require up to three treatments for smooth results.

How often should I get waxed?

Every 4 weeks is ideal. Regular waxing reduces skin sensitivity and weakens hair follicles over time, leading to finer, sparser hair growth. Consistent appointments also minimize discomfort and improve results.

How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?

To ensure a successful session:

  1. Ensure proper hair length: See the question above.
  2. Clean skin: Arrive with clean, dry skin. Avoid showering or bathing immediately before, as wet hair can break during waxing.
  3. Avoid certain products/medications: Refrain from using topical exfoliants (e.g., Retin-A, hydroquinone), oral acne medications (e.g., Accutane), blood thinners, or cortisone for at least a week before waxing, as they increase skin sensitivity. Consult your doctor if unsure.
  4. Special events: If waxing for a wedding or event, schedule a test session 4 weeks prior to check your skin’s reaction, then book a follow-up a few days before the event. For best results, we recommend getting 3-4 waxing sessions in before your event.

Can I shave between waxing appointments?

No, shaving disrupts the hair growth cycle, leading to coarser regrowth and less effective waxing. Stick to waxing every 4 weeks for best results.

Is there an age limit for waxing?

We wax clients of all ages! For those under 18, a parent must accompany you to sign a consent form. Brazilian waxes require clients to be 18 or older.

After your appointment

What should I expect after my first waxing?

You’ll enjoy smooth, hairless skin! Temporary redness or minor irritation may occur for 1–2 days. Some clients experience slight itchiness as hair regrows. Proper aftercare (see below) minimizes these effects.

Will I get ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hairs are possible but preventable. Waxing removes hair from the root, and skin may thicken over the waxed area.

To reduce the risk:

  1. Exfoliate gently: Starting 2 days after waxing, use a mild scrub or exfoliating glove 1–2 times weekly.
  2. Wear loose clothing: Avoid tight clothing for 48 hours to reduce irritation and moisture buildup.
  3. Limit bacteria: Avoid heavy exercise, sweating, sexual contact or chafing for 24–48 hours, especially in high-perspiration areas like the bikini line or underarms.

How can I prevent ingrown hairs?

For 24–48 hours post-wax, avoid:

  1. Exfoliating products (e.g., AHAs, loofahs)
  2. Direct sun exposure or tanning beds
  3. Fragranced creams or irritating ingredients
  4. Deodorant (for underarm waxing)
  5. Tight clothing
  6. Excessive heat (e.g., hot tubs, saunas)
  7. Exercise that causes sweating or chafing
  8. Sexual contact

After 48 hours, exfoliate regularly with a gentle shower gel and exfoliating glove. Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen to waxed areas to protect sensitive skin.

How does waxing benefit me?

Waxing offers long-lasting smoothness compared to shaving. When done every 4 weeks, it:

  1. Reduces hair growth over time
  2. Produces finer, softer regrowth
  3. Eliminates stubble, as hair is removed from the root
  4. Saves time for those tired of frequent shaving

Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker or darker?

No! Waxing removes hair from the root, resulting in finer, sparser regrowth. Unlike shaving, which cuts hair at its thickest point, waxing doesn’t cause stubble or stimulate new follicles. Only hormones (natural or artificial) can increase hair growth.

Loyalty Points Program

What is the Loyalty Points Program?

Our Loyalty Points Program rewards you for every dollar you spend, referring friends, and leaving reviews! Points can be redeemed for free waxing services.

How do I earn points?
  1. Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on services or products.
  2. Earn 100 points for every friend you refer who completes their first appointment (any service).
  3. If your friend books a Brazilian wax, they get 50% off their first Brazilian, and you get $10 off your next service—plus your 100 points!
  4. Earn 50 points for leaving a Google review (one time only).
  5. Earn 50 points for leaving a Vagaro review (one time only)
  6. BONUS: Earn 100 points when you create a Vagaro account AND sign up for our monthly newsletter (just let us know at your appointment!)

How can I use my points?

Points can be redeemed for free waxing services. Each service requires 10x it's price in points. (For example, a $55 Brazilian wax requires 550 points to redeem for free.)

Can I use points for products?

No, points can only be redeemed for services—not for products.

How do referral rewards work?
  1. You’ll earn 100 points for every friend you refer who completes their first appointment (any service).
  2. If your friend’s first service is a Brazilian wax, they’ll get 50% off, and you’ll also get $10 off your next service (in addition to your 100 points).
  3. The $10 discount and points can be stacked for Brazilian referrals!

If I refer a friend for a Brazilian wax, can I use my $10 discount and redeem points at the same appointment?

You’ll earn both rewards—a $10 discount for referring a Brazilian client and 100 loyalty points for any referral. However, only one reward can be redeemed per visit. This means you can choose to use your $10 discount or redeem your points for a free service at a single appointment, but not both at the same time. If you have both, you can use them on separate visits!

Do my points expire?

Points never expire as long as Pink Cactus Waxing is open at its current location and you’re able to receive services. If the business relocates, closes, or you move away, unused points will be forfeited.

How can I check my points balance?

Clients can view their loyalty points by logging into their Vagaro account and checking their profile or loyalty points section. If you have any trouble, just ask at your next visit or contact us—we’re happy to check your balance for you!

Will there be more ways to earn points?

Yes! Stay tuned—more ways to earn points may be added in the future.
